President Tinubu Renames University of Maiduguri in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari.

In a landmark decision, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially approved the renaming of the University of Maiduguri, located in Borno State, to Muhammadu Buhari University.

This move comes shortly after the passing of the former President Muhammadu Buhari, in what the presidency described as a tribute to his legacy, leadership, and immense contributions to Nigeria’s development, especially in the areas of security and education in the northern region.

The decision was made public through an official statement released by the presidency, highlighting that the renaming serves not only as a way to honour the late former leader, but also as a reminder of his years of service to the nation, both as a military head of state and as a democratically elected president.

The new Muhammadu Buhari University is expected to retain its academic structure and faculty, while carrying forward the vision of building strong educational foundations in the region. The Federal Government has also promised to support the institution with increased funding and infrastructural development.
