 President Tinubu Honored with Chieftaincy Title in Anambra State


Awka, Anambra State – President Bola Tinubu has been bestowed with the prestigious chieftaincy title of ‘Dike si mba Anambra’ (Warrior from the Diaspora) by the collective of royal fathers representing all 179 communities within Anambra State. The conferment ceremony took place on Thursday at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, amidst a gathering of prominent dignitaries and enthusiastic supporters.


The Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Ogalagidi, Eze Iweka III), presided over the ceremony, formally bestowing the title upon the President. The honor was bestowed upon Tinubu in recognition of his accomplishments and positive impact across the nation.

President Tinubu was in Anambra for a one-day working visit, primarily to commission several "legacy" projects that have been completed under the administration of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. The commissioning of these projects highlighted the President's commitment to supporting state-level development initiatives and fostering partnerships for progress.


During the conferment ceremony, Igwe Iweka addressed President Tinubu, stating, "This is a title from all the royal fathers in the 179 communities of Anambra State. The title is called ‘Dike si mba Anambra’, meaning ‘warrior from the Diaspora’, and it is in recognition of your good works across the country."


Igwe Iweka further extended a warm welcome to the President, acknowledging his acceptance of their invitation and praising his efforts in governance, which he said were "positively impacting every nook and cranny of the country." The royal father also highlighted the positive impact of Tinubu's administration on critical infrastructure, citing key roads connecting the Second Niger Bridge and various other projects within Anambra communities. He concluded by offering a prayer for continued wisdom for the President to "steer the ship of governance."


In his acceptance speech, President Tinubu expressed his deep gratitude to the traditional rulers for the honor bestowed upon him. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration for national development, stating, "Our diversity must lead to prosperity; we must work together to lead Nigeria. We must commit ourselves for the development of the country."


Tinubu further remarked, "I feel deeply honoured by the conferment of a chieftaincy title by the royal fathers of this state. Today is not only historic, but one which I will forever treasure for the rest of my life."


The event was attended by a host of high-ranking officials and dignitaries, underscoring its significance. Among those present were the National Security Adviser, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu; Ogun State governor, Chief Dapo Abiodun; Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma; Abia State governor, Alex Otti; Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah; and Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.


In addition to the chieftaincy conferment, President Tinubu's visit to Anambra included the commissioning of several notable projects, including the New State Government House, the Governor’s Lodge, Solution Fun City, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, and various facilities at UNIZIK, Awka. These project commissions symbolize the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, education, and cultural institutions within Anambra State.
