In a recent Instagram post, popular Nigerian movie producer Stanley Ajemba, also known as Stanley Ontop, has made serious allegations against gospel musician Mercy Chinwo, claiming she is responsible for the arrest of social media influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM). This statement comes in light of reports that VDM was apprehended at a GTBank location.

Ajemba accused Mercy Chinwo of orchestrating the arrest, suggesting that Nigerian churches operate like government agencies that utilize law enforcement and other state apparatus to oppress citizens. He stated, "GTBank is not responsible for VDM's arrest at their premises. Mercy Chinwo is responsible for the arrest of VDM. Church is another government agency that uses our police, EFCC or military to intimidate citizens. Mercy Chinwo is the problem now not GTBank."

VeryDarkMan was reportedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 2 after he and his mother visited GTBank to address concerns over unauthorized deductions from her bank account.
