Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid Al-Saud, a member of the Saudi royal family known across the Arab world as the “Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at the age of 36. His death marks the end of a deeply emotional and medically remarkable chapter that spanned nearly two decades.
In 2005, at just 15 years old, Prince Al-Waleed was involved in a tragic car accident in London that left him with severe injuries, including a brain haemorrhage and massive internal bleeding. The incident plunged him into a coma, one that would last for 19 long years. Despite extensive medical care and numerous attempts at rehabilitation, he never regained full consciousness.
Over the years, his condition became widely known in the region, drawing sympathy and prayers from many. His family continued to share occasional updates and photos showing him on life support, which often stirred public emotion and hope for a miracle recovery.
His passing has drawn tributes from across the Middle East and beyond, with many remembering him not only as a royal figure but also as a symbol of quiet endurance and the fragility of life.
May he rest in peace.
