The federal government has dismissed recent reports claiming that Nigerian nationals in Tehran have been abandoned by the embassy as Israeli airstrikes continue across Iran. According to a statement on Saturday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, these reports are “misleading and unfounded.” The Nigerian Embassy in Tehran remains fully operational and committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of its citizens, despite the disruption caused by continual bombing forcing remote work.
To assist Nigerians in Iran, the embassy is coordinating an evacuation plan through Armenia, aiming to safely relocate citizens via Yerevan. Individuals in need of help are being urged to contact the embassy's emergency lines or email addresses:
Mr. Esson Anzaku: +989393216872
Abutalib: +989024199018
Additionally, Nigerians in Iran are advised to reach out to their local community coordinators and join the embassy’s group chat on Iran’s local messaging app, Eitaa, to receive real-time updates and assistance.
The Ministry reaffirmed its vigilance over the situation and assured Nigerians that all necessary measures are being taken worldwide to protect their citizens.
